Why do I write? And, why a writing page? I’m glad you asked.
Over the years, I’ve changed professions and passions many times. Sometimes, my interests seem more like fads than callings. But, one thing has always remained true: I love to write.
I’ve always viewed writing as a cathartic hobby. I write when I’m feeling emotional, or stressed, or even bored. Lately, I’ve wanted to turn that hobby into a committed career. This site is my first step in seeing that through to fruition.
I realize there is a big difference between loving to write, or even liking to write, and being a writer. But, the truth is: I’ve always been a writer. I describe myself as a proficient writer. I claim writing as one of my strongest skills – fiction, research, narrative, reflection – you name it!
The problem has been with risk-taking, not writing. I admire professional writers who have committed their time and lives to the written word. It’s a scary and uncertain career. Perhaps you’re a great wordsmith, but a terrible storyteller. Or, maybe you’re great in person, but the written word is a struggle. Or, even if you’re great at both, just because you like your tales, doesn’t mean a publisher will.
So, why risk it? Honestly, I’m just ready. World be damned, this is what I want to do. So, hopefully it will work out and somewhere out there – someone reading this right now – will also like what I do.
Wish me luck!
